STEP 1: FIND YOUR USAV AGE DEFINITION

Find your USAV Age Definition to sign up for the correct age group/team tryout.

STEP 2: REGISTER WITH APEX NW AND PAY $20 FOR TRYOUTS

Parent/Guardian/Adult - create a household account on SportsEngine and then add your athlete to your account in order to register for tryouts. Athletes should not be making their own SportsEngine accounts as that will create complications with the Puget Sound Region in the future.

We do our best to keep costs as low as possible for tryouts. This cost covers:

  • A numbered t-shirt to wear during tryouts and take home
  • Gym fees to rent the tryout facility

STEP 3: PREPARE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS BEFORE TRYOUTS

Everyone is required to submit the Medical Forms provided on the Apex NW registration to Apex IN PERSON, you will need to bring them to tryouts. No electronic copies.

STEP 4: PURCHASE A PSR TRYOUT MEMBERSHIP

Follow the steps on the apex NW registration to purchase a USA Volleyball tryout membership.

What to Expect

We are so excited that you will be attending Apex NW tryouts! We know it will be an amazing season! Below are some details to help walk you through the tryout process.

  • Come 10-15 minutes early in athletic attire and shoes. Kneepads are recommended but not required.  Athletes will be greeted at the door by a coach with where to put their gear on. At the time, parents are not allowed in the gym; therefore, please ensure that your athlete has all the appropriate forms readily available.
  • There will be many coaches at tryouts to help make your athlete feel welcomed and know what to do! Athletes will get in line to check-in, submit their forms, and receive their tryout shirt.
  • Athletes can then use the bathroom to change and suit-up.
  • Athletes will then enter the gym to warm up with a partner before going through a series of drills and games.
  • We hope this time is fun and exciting for all athletes as they get a chance to play the sport they love. Don’t forget a water bottle!
  • When tryouts end, athletes will return to grab their belongings before heading out!

Puget Sound Region Letter of Commitment

The Letter of Commitment is used to invite an athlete into a program and recognized by the Puget Sound Region as a binding commitment between athlete/family and a volleyball club. These letters exist to protect the athlete of the spot they have been offered on a team and protect the club from athletes/teams from not responding to offers. After receiving a Letter of Commitment from a volleyball club, athletes can:

  • Accept the offer immediately and sign the PSR Letter of Commitment. Once the athlete and parent/guardian signs the letter and it has been received by the club program, the athlete is not allowed to attend tryouts with other clubs.
  • OR decline the offer immediately, attend tryouts with other clubs
  • OR exercise their right to a 72-hour waiting period. This means the athlete may take the allotted time to make the best decision. The club must hold the spot until the time period expires. The athlete may receive multiple offers accompanied by multiple PSR Letter of Commitments
  • An athlete MAY NOT complete more than ONE PSR Letter of Commitment. Once a PSR Letter of Commitment is signed the athlete is not allowed to attend other tryouts or sign another PSR Letter of Commitment with another club program
