2023-2024 HIGH SCHOOL AND BOYS Tryout Information!

We are looking forward to another great club season! Here you will find all the details you need to get registered for HIGH SCHOOL/ALL BOYS TRYOUTS. Due to the adjustment made by the PSR Region for a summer tryout, we will have more details about our season closer to the summer tryout date in July. We are looking forward to another great season!

We will be fully transparent that this is a difficult change to accept. For many reasons, we are apprehensive about what this will mean for our tryout opportunities for our high school age girls trying out before high school season. Like usual, PRACTICES will not begin until after the high school state tournament for girls U15 and above teams. For all girls U14 and younger teams, we will continue to host tryouts at the end of October with practices to follow. We are sure you have many questions so please feel free to email apexnwvolleyballclub@gmail.com as needed. With that being said, we do not have the ability to make any changes to this decision.

Thank you for your continued support of Apex NW. We are thankful!

U14 and Under GIRLS Tryouts will be in late October - DATE and REGISTRATION TBD

STEP 1: FIND YOUR USAV AGE DEFINITION

Find your USAV Age Definition to sign up for the correct age group/team tryout.

STEP 2: REGISTER WITH APEX NW AND PAY $25 FOR TRYOUTS

Parent/Guardian/Adult - create a household account on SportsEngine and then add your athlete to your account in order to register for tryouts. Athletes should not be making their own SportsEngine accounts as that will create complications with the Puget Sound Region in the future.

STEP 3: PREPARE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS BEFORE TRYOUTS

Everyone is required to submit the TWO Medical Forms provided on the Apex NW registration to Apex IN PERSON, you will need to bring them to tryouts. No electronic copies. The forms have not been updated yet for USA Volleyball. We will send them to participants once they have!

STEP 4: PURCHASE A PSR TRYOUT MEMBERSHIP

Programs sanctioned under PSR & USAV, are required to have athletes/attendees purchase the appropriate tryout membership for insurance and liability purposes when attending an event. In this case, athletes will need to provide proof of purchasing a tryout or 22-23 Full Membership. The cost of a tryout membership is applied to the cost of a later required full membership.

If you are a returning member, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PURCHASE A NEW MEMBERSHIP YET. Your athlete's membership from 22-23 will still be valid through tryouts. They will need a new membership at the start of practices in the fall.  If you are a new member, you will be able to purchase a tryout membership beginning July 1st. We will send reminders.

If you are a returning USAV member, you will need to upload your membership card as proof of purchase.

Puget Sound Region Letter of Commitment

The Letter of Commitment is used to invite an athlete into a program and recognized by the Puget Sound Region as a binding commitment between athlete/family and a volleyball club. These letters exist to protect the athlete of the spot they have been offered on a team and protect the club from athletes/teams from not responding to offers. After receiving a Letter of Commitment from a volleyball club, athletes can:

  • Accept the offer immediately and sign the PSR Letter of Commitment. Once the athlete and parent/guardian signs the letter and it has been received by the club program, the athlete is not allowed to attend tryouts with other clubs.
  • OR decline the offer immediately, attend tryouts with other clubs
  • OR exercise their right to a 48-hour waiting period. This means the athlete may take the allotted time to make the best decision. The club must hold the spot until the time period expires. The athlete may receive multiple offers accompanied by multiple PSR Letter of Commitments
  • An athlete MAY NOT complete more than ONE PSR Letter of Commitment. Once a PSR Letter of Commitment is signed the athlete is not allowed to attend other tryouts or sign another PSR Letter of Commitment with another club program
