2022-2023 Season Info

Apex NW operates under the USA Volleyball governing body and the Puget Sound Region and the tryouts for our region all happen around the same time. These tryout times for middle school age and younger in late October and our high school age tryouts will take place in late November after high school season. This will begin our season of two practices a week and anywhere from 6-12 tournaments throughout the year ending around April/May. We welcome all skill levels and ages to tryout for our teams as we work very hard to not make any cuts for athletes looking to play for Apex NW. Please scroll through this page to learn more about our program and feel free to reach out to any of our staff members if you have more specific questions!

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SUMMIT, ELEVATE, AND VERTEX

The difference between our Summit, Elevate, and Vertex teams are tournament lineups and competitive environment. Summit is considered our most competitive team, then Elevate and then Vertex. A group of athletes will be placed on an appropriate Summit, Elevate or Vertex team according to their performance at tryouts, skill-level, and age. These decisions will be made by director, coaches, and staff.

What is Powerleague?

Powerleague is a series of tournaments where teams in the Puget Sound Region are seeded, ranked within each age division, and play other teams that are close in ranking. Powerleague is an excellent opportunity for our athletes to compete with the best clubs and athletes in the region. These tournaments have various locations in the greater Seattle Area. It is important to note that tournament locations for Powerleague are not typically announced until the Wednesday before the tournament.

Hotel and Travel Information for Families

Apex NW Volleyball Club travel policy places the responsibility of most aspects of travel to tournaments and supervision of athletes on their parents/guardians. Parents/Guardians are responsible for all costs for travel and meals for themselves as well as their athlete. The Club will provide blocks of rooms for families to reserve their hotel travel accommodations for PNQ , Lone Star Classic and Las Vegas only. These tournaments operate under the Stay and Play policies this year and require teams to book with certain partnering hotels to participate in the tournament – we require teams to reserve their rooms with the provided hotel from the Club for all Stay and Play tournaments. Teams who do not adhere to this rule risk being dropped from the tournament. It is important that all families book their rooms by the reserved cut-off date to avoid further complications. For all other tournaments - families will book their own lodging accommodations and purchase airfare to utilize points, staying with family and friends, and greater flexibility for traveling and scheduling during the season – ultimately saving money.
